The slogan at my blog theme, “ENGINEER IN THE MORNING, SUPERHERO AT NIGHT”, was the idea of Mr. Guitar expressing about myself as an engineer who likes hunting where such activity is perform at night time. But I hunt the mammalian which I can eat only. Hahahaha… (Do you consider a ‘chick’ as a mammalians; no, chick is from a bird’s family. I never hunt a bird… wife merajuk nanti). What makes me love to be a hunter?
1st, the Guns – Not everybody have the opportunity to own a gun nor to handle it. It’s nothing like a hand phone where everybody can have and use even though the budak-budak. But gun is totally dangerous and should be handled with disciplines and other thing is, gun a symbol to a mankind.
2nd, the Meat – Ha, tak boleh cerita, .gov.my say “itu binatang terpelihara”; I am talking about payau.
3rd, the Off-road Drive – This is what I want to talk about.

To be a speed driver, you need a powerful car and a full concentration while driving. But to be an Off-road driver is not simple as you take a driving license or akad nikah. Driving in an off-road is like dancing. Your pair of hand, pair of leg, pair of eye, neck and your mind must be a working coordinately, aggressively and spontaneously (pinggang pun gonyang2). Sometimes you need to drive like a Japanese drifter (jalan macam ketam). The most important is to understand and study the character and diagnose fault of the 4WD truck that you are going to drive before you entering the jungle. And the other thing is your driving skills. Here I like to share one of my tips to drive across the river.

1st: Check depth of the river before crossing and don’t be fooled into thinking that your 4WD truck can act like a duck boat (macam cartoon Mr. Bean). Measure the dept using your leg and ensure the engine air intake is higher than the water depth. Originally designed of the engine air intake for truck is on the top of the engine. But you can modify it by installing a trunk (macam belalai gajah) from the engine to the top of your truck roofing.
2nd: Engage your 4WD transmission to 4L and put it at the 2nd gear. For me I prefer the Truck where we can engage the 4WD transmission from inside the cabin. Not like the old model Truck where you need to go round to the front wheel and twist the 4WD lock to engage it.
3rd: Highly important to remember while crossing the river..!! Make sure your acceleration is constant when you press the throttle pedal inside the water. Do not release the throttle because if you do, the water might get inside your engine through the exhaust by the principle of suction. That is why at my 2nd tips above I mentioned to use the 4L, because we can press more of the acceleration pedal so that it can produced high volume of exhausted air coming out through the exhaust pipe. The released air will push away the water to avoid the engine from stopping in the middle of the river due to the exhaust being choked-up with water.
4th: Don’t panic!! While entering the river where water level is above the height of the headlamp you can see nothing of course (blackout) because the headlamps are under-water. Just be calm and hold the steering wheel the way you aimed. Good Luck..!!
This is only my simple methodology to be shared together and hopefully it can be useful when your village floods. Trust me, because I’ve experience this for so many times (while hunting, as my village never flood).
